CHARLOTTE, NC – A mom is pleading for someone to come forward after her son was murdered in West Charlotte. It’s been just over a week since 27-year-old Rashad Porter was found dead along Major Street, near Freedom Drive.

Sunday night, dozens of family and friends gathered to pray at a vigil near the spot where he was gunned down. For Porter’s mother, the emotion is still raw.

“It’s going to come out. Really soon. Cause somebody’s gonna talk. Somebody’s conscience is going to get to them,” says Emma Porter Riley.

Neighbors say there was an unusual amount of cars and activity along the street in the hours before the gunfire. They think there was a party going on at a house around the corner.

Porter’s Aunt says she hopes the vigil will encourage someone to go to police. “He was like a son to me. And I just hope justice can be done,” says Karen Porter.
