TEGA CAY, S.C. – A Tega Cay neighborhood plagued by sewage spills is cleaning up after yet another problem.  This time a 12 inch water main broke at the corner of Tega Cay Drive and Heron Run Drive on Monday afternoon.  Several driveways were damaged by the rushing water.

Utilities, Inc., the out of state company that owns and maintains the water sewer system, tells WCCB that the line connecting the York County water supply ruptured.

Neighbors say these issues are unfortunately business as usual.  A boil water advisory has been issued to all customers until Thursday.  Crews say the water main has been fixed.

WCCB has been covering Tega Cay residents’ complaints about their sewer and water system since 2010.  Last week South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley told residents she was having attorneys look into the issue.

Utilities, Inc. says they are working to fix the “multitude” of problems with the aging system and that customer rate hikes might help pay for repairs.
