Β CHARLOTTE, NC — Thursday, defense attorneys will cross-examine the final accuser in a former coach’s sex abuse trial. Β Gary “Scott” Goins faces nearly two dozen sex charges involving students at East Gaston High School. Β Most of the alleged incidents happened in the late 1990s. Β
Wednesday, one of Goins’ former wrestlers testified about his close relationship with the coach. Β He said it became routine for the two to have sex in a school locker room, and in the coach’s office.
“I’m trying to start walking out to get to the car, as quick as I can. Β But then he’d just grab you by the stomach from behind. Β Or grabs you, starts rubbing your chest. Β And then he’d stick his hands down my pants,” said the accuser.
The accuser says he didn’t speak up because he thought he was the only victim. Β Defense attorneys say Goins was a tough coach, but never abused anyone.
