
GASTONIA, N.C. — The third accuser in the Gary ‘Scott’ Goins sex crimes trial claimed the former East Gaston High School wrestling coach asked him to help with his suicide.
Goins is on trial for numerous sex crimes involving players on his wrestling team. The sex acts reportedly happened between 1998 and 2004.
While on the stand, the accuser says Goins plotted his suicide because he felt guilty about what he had done to several players on his team.
Goins is accused of contacting police after the accuser tried to choke him with a rope at a park in Gaston County. The accuser says he used the rope to try to kill Goins in the suicide plan but it did not work.
Goins filed a police report claiming he was assaulted, The accuser said he later went to police and admitted he choked Goins, but also revealed the suicide plot and sexual abuse.
