LINCOLNTON, N.C. — A woman died in an apartment fire in Lincoln County. Β
Investigators say Melinda Thomas, 65, was found unresponsive inside an apartment on Bailey Springs Drive. Β
Firefighters extinguished a small fire that was in the same room as Thomas. Β Officials say the fire is believed to have started on the bed where several cigarette butts were located. Β
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
