NFL Player Released From Team After Arrest In Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officials say a NFL player was cut from the Detroit Lions after being arrested in Charlotte on domestic assault charges.

The Lions’ guard Rodney Austin was arrested on Friday. Β He has been charged with assault on a female, assault on a child under 12, interfering with emergency communication and larceny.

The alleged incident happened at an apartment complex on Cameron Forest Lane in South Charlotte. Β 

He was released from jail on a $2,250 bond. Β Austin is accused of shoving his ex-girlfriend while she was holding a child. Β Police say he then took the woman’s phone so she could not call 911. Β 

Austin’s agent told TMZ, “There is a process to this. Β At the end of that process, I am confident that this will be clear to everybody is a nonissue,” said Mark Magazu. Β
