UPDATE: Water Main Break Leaves Residents Without Water

WAXHAW, NC — Crews are working to restore water service to a neighborhood in Waxhaw. Β Water started gushing Tuesday night from a broken main in the middle of the street at Providence and Cutters Spring Road.

The woman who first reported the problem, Colleen Lapenna, says what started as a small leak around 6pm quickly turned into water shooting out of the ground.

“It was pretty high. Β I mean, it got to its worst, it was right here and kind of looked like a white water rafting… right? Β You saw the video,” said Lapenna.

Crews tell us they still aren’t sure what caused the water main break. Β Motorists are being asked to use caution when driving through the area.
