MATTHEWS, N.C. — Family Dollar is cutting 135 jobs from its headquarters in Matthews.
A spokesperson said, “Family Dollar is taking decisive action to better position the Company to succeed in an adverse operating environment. The Company recently conducted a comprehensive review to identify measures to enhance execution, increase operational efficiency and improve financial performance. As a result of this review, Family Dollar has implemented organizational changes which include the difficult, but necessary, decision to reduce its Store Support Center (corporate headquarters) workforce in Charlotte, North Carolina.”
The 135 positions equal to 6% of the workforce. The company currently employs approximately 61,000 people across the country. Approximately 2,400 of those employees work at the store support center in Matthews.
