NBA-SCHEDULE

A streak must end tonight in Motown

UNDATED (AP) β€” Something has to give tonight in Detroit as the Pistons entertain Portland. The Blazers come into the game riding a four-game winning streak with victories in 9 of their last 10 games. The Pistons are going in the opposite direction with losses in their last 12 outings.

It’s a similar situation in Salt Lake City as the visiting Spurs have won 9 of their last 10 games while the host Jazz have dropped 9 in a row.

Two first-place teams are squaring off tonight in Cleveland as the Cavaliers, who have won seven straight, entertain the Raptors. Toronto tops the Atlantic Division while the Cavs, who beat the Raptors in Toronto just a few days ago, lead the Central.

It’s been a tough start for the Knicks and first-year coach Derek Fisher. They have won just 4 of 22 games and are in the midst of an eight-game losing skid. Tonight the Knicks are on the road for a game with the Pelicans.

The rest of tonight’s schedule has Milwaukee playing at Oklahoma City, the Suns home to Miami, the Kings in L.A. to play the Lakers and Dallas at Memphis. With a win the Grizzlies would regain first place in the Southwest Division over idle Houston.

NHL-SCHEDULE

Long road trip for league champs starts tonight

UNDATED (AP) β€” League champion Los Angeles starts a five-game road trip tonight with a game against the Sabres in Buffalo. This evening’s game puts an end to the two-game season series between the clubs as the Kings won 2-0 in October.

Two road trips come to an end tonight as the Flyers face the Blue Jackets in Columbus and the Flames visit Toronto. That game also ends a five-game homestand for the Maple Leafs.

After a 16-5-1 start, the Canadiens have gone 1-5-1. Tonight they look to get things revved up again with a home game against Vancouver. The Canucks won the first game between the teams 3-0.

Washington is 2-0 on its current three-game road swing. Tonight the Caps are at Tampa Bay, a team they lost to last month 4-3.

The Winnipeg Jets are playing without left wing Evander Kane tonight. He was suspended for two games for a hit on Anaheim’s Clayton Stoner on Sunday. Tonight the Jets are facing the Stars in Dallas.

San Jose has spent most of the season on the road. The Sharks, who have played 18 of their 29 games on foreign ice, open a five-game home stand tonight against Edmonton.

In other games, Chicago is playing at New Jersey, the Wild are playing host to the Islanders and Nashville is at Colorado.

T25 MEN’S BASKETBALL-SCHEDULE

Arizona leads the way

UNDATED (AP) β€” Six games are on the men’s Top-25 basketball schedule this evening. The highest ranked school with a game is No. 3 Arizona as the Wildcats play host to Utah Valley.

In New York’s Madison Square Garden, two top-10 teams are playing, but not against one another. In the first game of the annual Jimmy V Classic, seventh-ranked Villanova is facing Illinois while in the nightcap fourth-ranked Louisville is going up against Indiana.

Your remaining games tonight feature 11th-ranked Wichita State at home to Seton Hall, 14th-ranked Iowa State entertaining the University of Missouri-Kansas City and 25th-ranked Notre Dame home to Mount St. Mary’s.
