The Voice of Poor Whites: The Trial of Lunsford Lane

This will be a living history program presented by Master Docent Ronnie Schumann of New Orleans, LA(PhD candidate; University of South Carolina) which will delve into socio-economic conditions, pre Civil War race and class dynamics, and abolition in North Carolina. It will contrast the lifestyles of poor whites and freed people of color through the vivid portrayal of the persecution of Lunsford Lane, a freed slave and business entrepreneur in Raleigh, NC.
