CHARLOTTE, NC —Β The Ebola outbreak in west Africa has Samaritan’s Purse and a Charlotte-based medical missionary group evacuating non-essential personnel from Liberia. Β
Charlotte missionary Nancy Writebol from SIM USA tested positive for Ebola over the weekend. Β She is in stable condition Tuesday night. Β There have been more than 1,200 confirmed Ebola cases in Africa this year; 672 people have died.
“It’s such a growing wave of infection for Ebola, that actually has been growing now only, for a few weeks, and it’s creating… it’s at such a level.” said SIM USA President Bruce Johnson.
The Ebola virus spreads through direct contact with bodily fluids or infected animals. Β Calvary Church will hold a prayer service for Nancy Writebol Wednesday night at 6:30pm. Β A Texas doctor who works with Samaritan’s Purse also has Ebola. Β He’s in stable condition.
