LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) β€” The top-ranked Kentucky Wildcats say starting forward Alex Poythress will miss the rest of the season after tearing the ACL in his left knee during practice yesterday. Poythress started eight games for the 10-0 Wildcats this season, averaging 5 1/2 points and 3.8 rebounds. Head coach John Calipari (kal-ih-PAH’-ree) called the injury a big blow to his team.

The Clippers own the NBA’s second-best road winning percentage after taking eight of their first 10 games away from Los Angeles, but the Wizards are 10-2 at Verizon Center and a half-game off the Eastern Conference lead. The Clippers-Wizards matchup is one of 12 games on today’s NBA schedule.

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) β€” The Anaheim Ducks look to expand their lead in the NHL’s Western Conference when they visit an Edmonton Oilers team that has lost 13 of its last 14 games. It’s the second game of a home-and-home series and comes two days after the Ducks held off the Oilers 2-1 in Edmonton. The Ducks have 43 points in 30 games this season, two points ahead of Chicago and three ahead of Nashville.
