LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) β The International Equestrian Federation has voted in principle to pay its president for the first time.
Ingmar de Vos was elected last December after five previous incumbents serving for the previous 60 years were members of royal families of the Netherlands, Britain, Spain and Jordan.
The FEI’s move comes after the International Olympic Committee’s ethics panel this month called on sports organizations to be transparent and publish their payment policies.
The IOC revealed then that President Thomas Bach is paid 225,000 euros ($246,000) each year.
The FEI says a unanimous vote Tuesday in favor of paying De Vos must be approved by its ruling committee in June.
