Β CHARLOTTE, NC — The North Carolina Senate will voted on a $21.2 billion budget Thursday night. Β If it passes, North Carolina teachers can expect to see a seven percent pay raise. Β That’s the largest in state history.
“I committed to a pay raise, both base pay and teachers across the board, and we’re gonna fulfill that commitment. Β And I’m probably the first governor who can say that in probably six years,” said Governor McCrory.
Also included are increased funding for kindergarten though college classrooms, and an additional $186 million for a Medicaid contingency reserve. Β The house is expected to vote on the budget tomorrow.
