NEWTON, N.C. — Police arrested a man for attempting to lure a child into his vehicle using candy.Β
Malcolm Bodie, 21, is accused of approaching a child near the parking lot of Jump Automotive on S. College Avenue.Β Investigators say the suspect asked the victim to get into the backseat of his car.Β
The victim was able to run into the business for help.Β Police located the suspect’s vehicle a short time later.Β Bodie was then taken into custody.Β Police found a sucker in his pocket during a search.Β
He has been charged with attempted 2nd degree kidnapping.Β Bodie is in jail under a $50,000 bond.
