NEW YORK (AP) β€” The Atlanta Hawks have advanced to the NBA’s Eastern Conference semifinals by pounding the Nets 111-87 in Game 6 of the first-round series. Paul Millsap had 25 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Hawks, who shot 51 percent from the field and were 13 of 32 on their 3-point attempts. Kyle Korver and DeMarre Carroll each had 20 points for the Hawks, who will host the first two games of their next series against Washington.

UNDATED (AP) β€” The Tampa Bay Lightning and Chicago Blackhawks have taken the opener of their respective NHL second-round series. Ben Bishop turned back 43 shots and Nikita Kucherov scored the game-winner at 2:06 of double-overtime to lift the Lightning past the Canadiens 2-1 in Montreal. Teuvo Teravainen (TOO’-voh tehr-ah-VY’-nehn) scored the tiebreaking goal with 59 seconds left in the second period and Corey Crawford stopped 30 shots as the Hawks downed Minnesota 4-3.

LAS VEGAS (AP) β€” Floyd Mayweather had a one-pound edge over Manny Pacquiao (PAK’-ee-ow) during yesterday’s weigh-in for today’s fight at the MGM Grand. The 47-0 Mayweather checked in at 146 pounds, one below the welterweight limit. Pacquiao has knocked out 38 opponents in going 57-5-2 in his career.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) β€” The Tampa Bay Buccaneers wasted no time signing Jameis (JAY’-mihs) Winston to a contract, one day after selecting him with the first overall pick in the NFL draft. The four-year, $23.35 package includes more than $16.6 million in guaranteed money and a fifth-year option. Winston won the Heisman Trophy in 2013, the year he led an unbeaten Florida State team to the national championship.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) β€” Top seed Rory McIlroy is still alive in the World Match Play Championship in San Francisco, but several other stars were eliminated yesterday. Facing elimination with two holes to play, McIlroy birdied three straight holes to outlast Billy Horschel.
