CONCORD, NC —Β A Kannapolis firefighter is suspended with pay after police say he shot and killed a driver who followed him.
Concord Police say David Pittarelli was following Ryan Cochran and his girlfriend for several miles on Concord Salisbury Road, just before 10:00 Thursday night. Β After pulling into a neighborhood, Cochran and Pittarelli got into a fight. Β That’s when Pittarelli was shot. Β So far, no charges have been filed.
Β
“We’re still investigating,” said Concord Police Major Gary Hatley. Β “Once we’re finished with our investigation, we’ll consult with the District Attorney.”
We stopped by Cochran’s house Friday night, but no one answered. Β Police do not believe the two knew each other. Β They’re still trying to figure out why Pittarelli was following Cochran.
