Cabarrus County Schools to Require Masks Starting Wednesday
CONCORD, N.C. — The Cabarrus County School Board voted 4-3 Monday night to make a change to its mask requirement.
Starting Wednesday, face coverings will again be required for students and staff.
Right now, 1,200 students in Cabarrus County Schools are in quarantine – “an all time high”, the district said.
Masks will not be required for students participating in athletic events, arts performances and other extracurricular activities.
Parents are split on the decision.
“The children are COVID exhausted”, Sean Turner said.
“Masks work and it is imperative to have our children and teachers universally masked to keep our hospitals from being overwhelmed”, Chris Rubeiz said.
Masks have been optional in Cabarrus County Schools since October.
