LANCASTER, SC– A student from Barr Street School in Lancaster was taken into custody Thursday morning.
Thursday morning police responded to a report that a student was in possession of a firearm on Barr Street Campus.
Officers responded and were able to locate the individual who surrendered the weapon without incident.
Police say Markethian R. Watts, 17, brought an unloaded 9mm pistol to the school.
After investigation police discovered that the firearm had been stolen out of Lancaster County.
There was reportedly nothing to indicate that the student had any intention of using the firearm.
Watts was charged with possession of firearm on school grounds and possession of stolen firearm.
