Β A Kindergarten school assignment is raising questions about racism in the classroom. Β A viewer emailed WCCB Charlotte, saying they were disgusted that a substitute guidance counselor at Richfield Elementary in Stanley County gave this assignment to a kindergartner.

The directions say to use the words from the word bank to describe how the characters in each photo are feeling. Β Turns out, the lesson was centered around Ruby Bridges, the first African-American Kindergartner at an all-white school in New Orleans.

The Stanley School District says if parents have a problem, they can write a letter to the principal.
