STATESVILLE, N.C. — The parents of a infant who died after being left in a hot car in Statesville are facing charges.
Sherrie Clay and Shakee Robinson were arrested Monday. Both have been charged with involuntary manslaughter and felony child abuse.
Investigators say the 4-week old child was left inside a hot car for nearly two hours. The child was found in the car by his aunt.
He was rushed to the hospital but died from his injuries. Detectives say the infant died from hyperthermia.
The couple’s other children were placed in the custody of the Department of Social Services.
