WASHINGTON, D.C. — A Two-Star General killed in an insider attack in Afghanistan has been identified.  Major General Harold Greene was from New York state.  He had been helping Afghan soldiers take over control from coalition forces.

A man dressed as an Afghan soldier opened fire at a training facility in Kabul Tuesday.  More than a dozen other Americans were hurt.  The Pentagon says the attack will not change the mission in Afghanistan.

“I don’t seen any impact to the current plans to draw down our forces in Afghanistan and to further support the resolute support mission next year,” said Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby.

Greene is the highest ranking American killed in the War on Terror since 9/11.
