Award-winning poet Maureen Ryan Griffin joins the Carolina Catholic Chorale and CPCC‘s Early Music Consort for a unique concert event on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in St. Ann Catholic Church, 3635 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209. “Winter Songs and Spring Trifles” features music and verse from the Middle Ages to today about the New Year and the anticipation of a new season. The chorale, conducted by founder and artistic director Thomas Savoy, will feature guest soprano Diana Yodzis of Charlotte, following her debut in solo recital at Carnegie Hall on January 15th. Works include Hassler, Monteverdi, Vaughan-Williams, Weelkes and Willan. The consort, playing on Renaissance period instruments and directed by Holly Mauer, will offer works by Anthony Holborne and Robert Johnson. Program narration by Griffin will include poetry from the ages. The audience will have the opportunity to meet the artists after the hour-long concert during a Wassailing Party included in the admission price. Single concert tickets are $30 for families, $12 for adults, $8 for students and children 12 years old or under are free.
