Crews Battle Apartment Fire in East Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Fire officials are investigating a 2-alarm fire in east Charlotte. Officials say flames broke out at Ashley Place Apartments on Electra Lane just before 2:30 p.m. No serious injuries were reported. One person was treated for minor injuries to their hand.

Two apartments were completely destroyed and four others were damaged. A total of 30 people were affected by the fire, officials say.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced families. 

Investigators say they believe the fire began in the kitchen. We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
