Police: Statesville Couple Arrested For Alleged Sexual Abuse Of 2 Teen Daughters

STATESVILLE, N.C. — Statesville Police have charged a couple with child sex offenses after it was reported that the mother’s boyfriend had been sexually assaulting her two teenage daughters for the past eight years.

The man in question, Aaron Salyer, 38, has been charged with five counts of Statutory Rape of a Child, five counts of Statutory Sex Offense with a Child, five counts of Sex Act by Sub Parent/Custodian, six counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child, and five counts of Felony Child Abuse – Prostitution for his involvement in this case, according to a news release.

The teenage girls’ mother, Tabitha Vain, 38, has been charged with five counts of Felony Child Abuse – Sexual Act for her involvement.

On January 19th, the Statesville Police Department received a call from one of the teens reporting the alleged sexual abuse she and her sister endured at the hands of her mom’s boyfriend.

The teen told officers her mother had hidden her cell phone so she couldn’t call police while at a doctor’s appointment.

Once locating her phone, the teen did call police to alert them of the sexual abuse going on in the home.

The Department of Social Services then contacted the girl’s mother, Tabitha Vain, to arrange a visit at the home in reference to the investigation.

Police say once the couple arrived home, Vain and Salyer were taken into custody on previous charges.

Vain was initially arrested for an outstanding warrant and Salyer for Driving While License Revoked, according to a news release.

Police say Vain was able to make bond and was released.

Social Services then took custody of the 14-year-old girl and her 16-year-old sister, who both claim to have been sexually abused by their mother’s boyfriend for the past eight years.

Police say both girls claim their mother knew what was going on and did nothing to help them.

The girls reported that the first four years of abuse occurred at their home in Troutman, N.C. and the last four years of abuse occurred at their home in Statesville, N.C.

After making their report, the Statesville Police Department was able to get a warrant to search the girls’ home where the most recent sexual abuse had occurred.

Officers say items of evidence were seized during the search of the home and warrants were obtained for both Salyer and Vain.

Police say Salyer is being held under a $1,500,000 secured bond and Vain under a $500,000 secured bond for their involvement  in this case.

The investigation into the alleged sexual offenses is active and ongoing.

Statesville Police thank the Department of Social Services and the Troutman Police Department for their help with this investigation.
