Gastonia Man Charged With Attempted Murder Of Family Member

GASTONIA, N.C. — Detectives have arrested and charged a 22-year-old man for the attempted murder of a family member after a stabbing at a Gastonia home Wednesday afternoon left a 67-year-old woman with serious injuries.

Police say Camren Ford is currently being held in the Gaston County Jail without bond for his involvement in the stabbing.

Around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19th, officers responded to a home on Holland Avenue in reference to a stabbing that had just occurred.

At the scene, officers located a victim inside her home suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Fire and Rescue personnel responded shortly after and took the victim to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The victim told officers at the scene that Ford entered her home, stabbed her, and then fled.

Officers located Ford in the area of N. Myrtle Street and Ware Avenue, where he was arrested without incident shortly after the stabbing.

Police say a weapon believed to have been used during the stabbing was located when Ford was arrested.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
