Charlotte’s Emergency Operations Center Fully Staffed, Ready To Go During Any Major Event

CHARLOTTE  – Whether it’s a major snowstorm, or a cyber attack, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Emergency Operations Center is staffed and ready to help keep you and your family safe.  Leaders in North and South Carolina are gearing up for a second wallop of wintry weather across parts of the states, but here in Charlotte, crews are scaling back their plans, while still keeping a close watch on whatever old man winter will bring.  The Charlotte Mecklenburg Emergency Operations Center is fully staffed during any major event.

WCCB News took a tour of the facility.

“Activations can be anything from a weather event, that’s our most frequent type of activation, hurricanes, flooding, winter storm, tornadoes, but we would also activate here during the cyber attack on Colonial Pipeline last year so we could make sure resources were distributed through the city,” says Hannah Brown, Emergency Management Planning Coordinator.

The EOC was fully staffed during last weekend’s storm, but saw no major issues.  Hurricane Florence was the longest weather activation event at the Emergency Operations Center.
