CHARLOTTE, NC — A sibling argument turned deadly in High Point Sunday. A 16-year-old boy is dead, and his 14-year-old sister faces murder charges.
According to High Point Police officials, 16-year-old Ti’kere Martin was stabbed to death by his 14-year-old sister shortly before 1am Sunday. It happened inside of the Martin family’s apartment.
Investigators say the stabbing was likely the result of an argument between the two siblings. Police have not received the girl’s name. She is facing first degree murder charges.
Shalaythia Childress started hanging out with Ti’kere and his sister several weeks ago. She says the two always got along just fine. She and other friends believe Ti’kere’s death may have been an accident instead of murder. Childress says there’s got to be more to the story.
“I just want to know why,” says Childress. “…We don’t know what really happened. We are just surprised.”
Investigators are still deciding whether to charge the 14-year-old girl as an adult or a juvenile.
