In a news release, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office say the investigation into Jones began on Thursday, December 30th 2021 after a report was filed by a family member claiming Jones has sexually assaulted her.

The child reported the abuse during a welfare check.

Detective J. Wabel then opened an investigation and discovered two other victims.

Police say these victims were located and interviewed by Wabel, and they both described having been sexually assaulted multiple times by the suspect, Edwin Jones.

Based on the three victim’s statements and evidence obtained during the investigation, Detective Wabel was able to receive 21 arrest warrants for Jones.

On Wednesday, January 12th, deputies arrested Jones on the indecent liberties charges and placed him in custody of the Iredell County Detention Center under a $300,000 secured bond.

On Thursday, Jones appeared before Magistrate M. Russell who issued a $5 million bond on the statutory rape charges.
