ZEBULON, N.C. (AP) β The Carolina Mudcats’ series at Myrtle Beach this week has been canceled after the team’s bus wrecked on its way to South Carolina. Carolina League President John Hopkins said yesterday that the Mudcats have returned home, and players and field staff will continue to be medically evaluated.
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) β Marcquise Reed, who helped Robert Morris to the NCAA Tournament last season, has transferred to Clemson. Clemson announced the move yesterday. Reed averaged 15.1 points in his freshman season with the Colonials, who won the Northeast Conference this past March.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) β Despite missing the first 11 races this season, Kyle Busch is eligible to compete for the NASCAR championship. NASCAR announced yesterday that it has granted Busch a waiver that would allow the Joe Gibbs Racing star to qualify for the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) β Kevin Kisner expects to be in contention to win his first PGA Tour event this week at the Wells Fargo Championship. Kisner has lost in a sudden death playoff in two of the last three tournaments, including last week at The Players Championship when Ricky Fowler capped an improbable comeback with a winning birdie putt on No. 17 at TPC Sawgrass.
