ATLANTA (AP)β Al Horford snatched an offensive rebound and dropped in the winning basket with 1.9 seconds left to give the top-seeded Atlanta Hawks an 82-81 victory over the Washington Wizards. Horford finished with 23 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots for the Hawks, who own a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals heading into Game 6 Friday in Washington.
NEW YORK (AP)β It’ll be the New York Rangers against Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL Eastern Conference final. The defending East-champion Rangers earned that right by eliminating the Washington Capitals 2-1 last night in Game 7. Derek Stepan (STEH’-pahn) scored 11:24 in overtime to end it.

Kluber struck out 18 and allowed his only hit in the seventh inning of the Cleveland Indians’ 2-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Closer Corey Allen finished up the combined one-hitter.
BALTIMORE (AP) β Kentucky Derby winner American Pharoah has been made the 4-5 morning-line favorite for Saturday’s Preakness Stakes despite drawing the unfavorable No. 1 post position in the second leg of the Triple Crown. A field of eight 3-year-olds was entered yesterday in the smallest Preakness field since 2000.
