CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police made an arrest in a shooting that happened near SouthPark Mall last week.
Investigators say Diamonte Williams was involved in a fight with the victim moments before the shooting happened.
The victim allegedly drove away from the fight in a vehicle and police say Williams was able to catch up with the victim at a red light at the intersection of Sharon Road and South Park Drive.
That’s when police say Williams got out of his car and opened fire on the victim. The victim was involved in a hit and run trying to get away from Williams.
The victim drove himself to Northeast Regional Medical Center where he was treated for having a graze wound from a bullet.
Williams has been charged with discharging a weapon into occupied property and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill. This is an ongoing investigation.
