HICKORY, NC — A Hickory woman is coming to the defense of her boyfriend, who’s charged in the stabbing death of another man. That woman tells WCCB Charlotte this was self defense.
18-year-old Christopher Mackey is charged with assault with a deadly weapon after that stabbing late Thursday night at a home in Hickory. Deputies found 33-year-old Phillip White, Junior with multiple stab wounds. He died Friday morning at the hospital.
Mackey’s girlfriend, Alex Everhart, tells WCCB she was scared for her boyfriend’s life, and the stabbing was self-defense after a fight broke out. “I was really scared,” she said. “It was two grown men against an 18-year-old boy.” She continued, “I want them to know the whole story. I want them to know that Chris did not murder him. It was self-defense. It was.”
Mackey will answer to his charges in court on Monday.
