Morning Brew: Yogurt Toast and Repurposing Old Ugg Boots

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In this Pure Intentions Coffee Morning Brew segment we talk about yogurt toast and making your old Ugg boots more fashion-forward with a trending TikTok hack.

If you’re team sweet when it comes to breakfast, you’ll want to try this new TikTok trend, “Yogurt Toast” (also known as “custard toast”). It is made with a slice of bread, yogurt, an egg, and sweeteners like honey or maple syrup. Fresh fruit can also be added. You start by mixing the yogurt, egg, and sweetener in a bowl – then spread a spoonful on the middle of the slice of bread. You can then top with some fresh fruit and bake until the custard sets. When the bread is ready, you can top it with honey or syrup for extra sweetness. Nutritionists on TikTok say the trend has taken off because it’s simple, includes accessible ingredients, and is a healthy twist on french toast.

Have any old Ugg boots laying around? This fashion hack will have your old boots looking brand new. This year, mini Uggs are in high demand and if you have an older, taller pair and don’t feel like spending money on a new trendy mini pair, Emily Keen – known on TikTok as Emkeen3 – has you covered. The 25-year-old medical student used a pair of scissors to cut down a pair of Ugg boots she purchased about 8 years ago. She starts her process by cutting down the boots closer to the ankle. Next, she snips the top of the boots a little more and takes apart the threading with a seam ripper. She then seals the new, shorter top of the boot with the original seam, re-stitched, and just like that your old, outdated Uggs are back to being fashion-forward.
