IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A Statesville man is facing multiple felony charges involving sexual acts with a child, according to deputies.
The investigation started after a report was filed on Dec. 27 with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a 9-year-old child possibly being sexually assaulted.
According to a news release, when the victim was interviewed, information was obtained about the time and locations of the assaults.
Through additional interviews and evidence obtained, 56-year-old Ray McCoy was named as the suspect in the case, according to deputies. Arrest warrants were then obtained for McCoy by authorities.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office arrested McCoy Thursday and taken to the detention center where he was charged with felony statutory sex offense by an adult, felony dissemination of obscenity to a minor, and five counts of felony indecent liberties with a child.
