CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Detectives have opened a homicide investigation after finding a woman dead from an apparent gunshot wound in northwest Charlotte Sunday morning.
Around 6:30 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives responded to a home on Swan Drive to conduct a welfare check.
At the scene, officers located a woman suffering from a gunshot wound.
Medic pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
Her identity has not yet been released.
The investigation into this homicide is active and ongoing.
