Federal Jury Convicts Mint Hill Man Of Sexual Exploitation Of A Minor

MINT HILL, N.C. — A federal jury in Charlotte has convicted a 46-year-old Mint Hill man for secretly filming a child undressing and showering on several different occasions.

Brandon Grunwaldt, 46, is currently in federal custody for sexual exploitation of a minor, according to a news release.

According to evidence and witness testimony, between February 16th and October 31st, 2020, Grunwaldt secretly recorded a minor on five different occasions while the minor was undressing and showering.

Investigators say from the electronic devices seized, Grunwaldt was found to be in possession of five videos that depicted the minor in the nude.

The jury convicted Grunwaldt of five counts of production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography for his involvement.

Authorities say each count of production of child pornography charge carries a minimum statutory sentence of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The charge of possession of child pornography carries a statutory penalty of no more than 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
