LANCASTER, S.C. — Two deputies are on paid administrative leave after one of the deputies shot and killed a man in Lancaster.
The Lancaster County Sheriff says they got a call around 2:15 Thursday afternoon about Darrell Morgan, who was inside a business called Carolina Corner on Highway 521 with a gun.
Deputies arrived on scene nine minutes later. They say when they got there, 60-year-old Morgan was hostile.
“When the officers went to the building, they were confronted by an armed person inside the building who clearly posed a threat to the officers and other civilians inside the business,” said Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile. “Shots were fired to eliminate the threat.”
Morgan was taken to Springs Hospital where he later died. We’re told that while only one deputy fired shots, two deputies are on paid administrative leave as the investigation continues.
