Lancaster Man Arrested For Stealing Construction Vehicle, Leading Police On Chase In Pineville
PINEVILLE, N.C. — A 38-year-old man is facing charges after stealing a construction vehicle and driving around Pineville Monday morning, according to police.
The Pineville Police Department were dispatched after receiving a call around 8:10 a.m. about a stolen construction vehicle from Lancaster, South Carolina driving around in Pineville.
Police said the suspect was driving the construction vehicle and failed to pull over for blue lights and siren. Police units pursued the construction vehicle on Interstate 485 outer loop to the Mint Hill area, eventually stopping near the railroad tracks on Alvin Hough Road.
The construction vehicle jumped onto the railroad tracks and drove about one mile back into the woods, according to a news release.
Initially authorities were not able to locate the driver but the suspect was later found by the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, sitting on the front porch of someone’s home in Cabarrus County.
The suspect, identified as Brett Catoe of Lancaster, was arrested without incident and will be facing criminal charges of felony fleeing to elude, felony possession of stolen vehicle, resisting, obstructing, and delaying-misdemeanor in Mecklenburg County, according to police.
The construction vehicle will be seized.
The case is active and ongoing.
