GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A 35-year-old Mount Holly man is facing charges after a search led to the discovery of over 100 child pornography images and videos, according to authorities.
The Gaston County Police received a cybercrime tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Feb. 2022 which sparked the investigation into John Flowers, the identified suspect in the case.
During the investigation, officers served a search warrant on Flowers’ electronic media which led to the seizure of over 100 images and videos of child pornography.
Flowers has been charged with six felony counts of 2nd degree sexual exploitation of a child and six felony counts of 3rd degree sexual exploitation of a child, according to police.
Flowers was already incarcerated in the Gaston County Jail, being held on a probation violation, and was served with the new charges Monday.
According to police, the suspect was previously charged in Feb. 2020 for six felony counts of possession of child pornography.
The investigation continues and anyone with any further information is asked to contact Det. R.L. Smith at 704-866-3320 or Crimestoppers at 704-861-8000.
