I Heart Rail Trail: Lights Returns With Illuminating Public Art Installations In South End
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Rail Trail in South End will once again be lit this year as I Heart Rail Trail: Lights, presented by U.S. Bank, returns with five never-before-seen public art installations on display from March 4-20.
I Heart Rail Trail: Lights is part of the I Heart Rail Trail initiative, a partnership between the Charlotte Rail Trail, Charlotte Center City Partners, and U.S. Bank, according to a news release.
The festival is free and open to the public with the artwork being illuminated at dusk every night. The artists from the Carolinas that were selected to display work at the event are Oliver Lewis, Meredith Dallas, Kiik Create, Arko and Luvly Moon, and Kat Sanchez Standfield and Caleb Roenigk.
There will be events large and small during the program to activate the Rail Trail and enhance the experience of this 3.5-mile linear park.
The exhibits will be located at 1100 South (1100 South Boulevard), The RailYard (1414 South Tryon Street), Dilworth Artisan Station (118 East Kingston Avenue), Atherton Mill Plaza (2102 South Boulevard), and Atherton Mill Lawn (2102 South Boulevard.)
The locations of the exhibit allows for visitors to enjoy the one-of-a-kind art experience, take the perfect photo, grab a bite to eat or drink nearby, and do it all again the next day.
