Chilly Rain Closes Out Weekend, Spring-Like Weather Resumes in March

Scattered showers will dump a healthy half-inch of rain over much of the Piedmont and Foothills.

We’ve made it to the weekend, but sadly, our spring-like temperatures have not followed suit. With the passage of a cold front Friday afternoon, much colder air has settled in for our Saturday and Sunday. Highs will struggle to get out of the 30s and 40s across the board for the second half of the weekend as another Gulf-born system brings widespread rain to the Carolinas. The Piedmont and Foothills could be in for a healthy half-inch of rain before drying out Sunday evening.

As high pressure builds back into the Carolinas heading into next week, expect sunshine and rebounding temperatures. Rain chances will be few and far between for much of the first week of March. Highs will approach 70º by the end of next week.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Showers build in later. Low: 44°. Wind: NE 5-10.

Sunday: Rain, especially earlier in the day. High: 47°. Wind: NE 5-10.

Sunday Night: Clearing out. Cold. Low: 33°. Wind: N 5-10.

Monday: Sunshine returns. High: 60°. Wind: NE 5-10.
