Β CHESTER COUNTY, SC — A task force in Chester County says more deputies are needed to combat gang violence. Β The 19-member group released six recommendations this week.

They include more manpower for the Sheriff’s office, more funding for the solicitor and public defender’s office, and restructuring the Sheriff’s budget so more deputies can be out on the streets.

In a statement, Chester County Sheriff Alex Underwood tells WCCB Charlotte he’s glad more deputies will be out on the streets, but he’s “disappointed that the county still doesn’t see the need to allow me to have any more personnel, specifically gang investigators.”
