CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A Catawba County middle school evacuated after a bomb threat Thursday morning, officials say.
According to Catawba County Schools, Jacobs Fork Middle School received a bomb threat around 10:30 a.m. in the form of a note found in a restroom on campus.
School administration and the School Resource Officer were informed of the situation and school officials notified the Catawba County Sheriff’s Department.
“Because student safety is always our top priority, Catawba County Schools takes all threats seriously,” a spokesperson from Catawba County Schools said. “We do not believe the threat to be credible; however, safety protocols were immediately enacted and students were evacuated.”
Law enforcement determined that the threat was not credible around 11:50 a.m.
Students and staff returned to the building to resume normal activities after authorities fully evaluated the situation.
