Nc127 Road Closure March42022

HICKORY, N.C. — Part of N.C. 127 will close in Hickory this weekend as City Walk contractors work to remove the wooden arches debris from the Rudy Wright Bridge and Main Avenue Bridge.

Officials say N.C. 127 will be closed between First Avenue SE and First Avenue NE from Friday, March 4th at 6 p.m. through Monday, March 7th at 6 a.m.

Detour routes will be clearly marked.

Officials say drivers should use Fourth Street NW/SW and the one-way roads to navigate around the closure.

Once the arches are removed, officials say both Main Avenue NE bridge and the pedestrian bridge will be inspected by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).

Officials say the Main Avenue NE bridge will be opened to both cars and pedestrians after cleared by inspection.

The pedestrian bridge will remain closed until all necessary repairs are completed.
