Deputies: Two People Arrested On Theft Charges In Lincolnton

LINCOLNTON, N.C. — Two people are facing several charges after attempting to steal from a closed mill building, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

While on routine patrol, a deputy was checking property in the Roseland community when he found several people trespassing inside a Roseland Drive property in Lincolnton.

When the deputy drove his patrol car around the back of the building he saw two people standing near a work van with a trailer attached.

At least two other people ran from the scene, according to authorities.

Two suspects, identified as 29-year-old Daron Fortenberry and 34-year-old Heather Riggs, were detained by deputies.

While searching the Lincolnton suspects, officers located knives and illegal drugs. According to a news release, the suspects had been loading metal parts and fire extinguishers from the building onto the trailer.

Fortenberry and Riggs were both charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny, felony possession of stolen goods, felony conspiracy, felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the sheriff’s office.
