CHARLOTTE, NC — There’s another Democrat officially in the crowded race for Mayor of Charlotte. Β
Third-term City Councilman David Howard opened his campaign headquarters Thursday on West Morehead Street in west Charlotte. Β Howard says the key to Charlotte’s success is creating jobs.
“People who have jobs have hope,” said Howard. Β “They can see where they can grow their families in the future, young people can see how they can make themselves a success.”
Howard will face current Mayor Dan Clodfelter, former County Commissioner Jennifer Roberts, and Mayor Pro-Tem Michael Barnes in the Democratic primary in September.
There are two Republicans running. Β Scott Stone officially launched his campaign Wednesday. Β He will face former City Councilman Edwin Peacock in the Republican primary.
