Armed Man Captured In Woods Following Two-Day Manhunt In Alexander County

ALEXANDER COUNTY N. C.–  Deputies say they arrested a man who was armed with a gun after he threatened neighbors and deputies during a two-day manhunt in the woods.

Deputies say they responded to a call on Kennington Lane near Iredell County on March 3rd. The suspect is accused of running into the woods.  After a failed foot chase,  deputies resorted to using a K-9 and drone to locate the suspect, according to a news release.

According to deputies, after two days of searching, the drone located  32-year-old Chadbourne Dillard in a wooded, makeshift campsite.

It was later discovered Dillard also had an active failure to appear warrant for a traffic offense in December 2021. Dillard was arrested, served with his active warrants, and charged with resisting arrest.
