ROCK HILL N.C – Construction on the Carolina Panther’s practice facility has been paused.
Rock Hill partnered with Tepper Sports to build a new training camp and entertainment facility called “The Rock” for the Carolina Panthers and local fans.
According to Associated Press, all projects involving the formation of a new practice facility have been paused due to unmet financial agreements by the city.
Sources say Rock Hill failed to make its initial payment, due March 2021, resulting in the project’s hiatus. The campus was scheduled to be completed by 2023.
Tepper Sports & Entertainment stated it has invested more than $170 million in the development. A statement was released in regards to their difficult decision.
“Given the economic realities, the difficult but prudent decision has been made to pause the project. The ongoing work will continue with our partners to find an economically acceptable solution for all parties to continue this project in Rock hill.”
