Smart Shopper: Save On Gas With These Tips

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the average for a gallon of gas nationwide is now the highest in United States history, since 2008. Customers are saying they’re starting to feel the effects at the pump!

Customer Vickey  Marsh says, “I think the gas prices are just ridiculous right now so you better fill up your tank where you can!”

According to AAA, as of Tuesday morning, the cost of regular gas in the U.S. is $4.25. Just last week, the average cost was $3.60. In North Carolina the average is $4.02 and in the Palmetto State, it’s $3.97.

With gas prices continuing to rise, having a membership could save you big at the pump!

Marsh says her shell membership has saved her over $65! She says, “Oh yes, definitely sign up for the rewards because it does save you money, it really goes.”

Shell Fuel rewards members receive 5 cents off everyday and on Thursdays, at  participating stations offer 20 cents off premium gas.

If you shop at your local Harris Teeter, don’t forget to use your rewards card! Every dollar you spend earns you a point and 100 points will get you 10 cents off at the pump. Another helpful tip is to download the app, GasBuddy to find the cheapest gas where you are.
